A workshop on 'Adivasi Life - Development and Crisis' was organized under the auspices of Neethi Vedhi at MGT Hall, Kalpatta on 10th October 2024. The meeting began with silent prayers remembering those who lost  lives in the Mundakai-Chooralmala disaster. Mr.  Ratan Tata was also mentioned in the condolence message presented by Adv. Fr. Stephen Mathew, Neethi Vedhi President. Mr. E G Joseph, Rtd. joint Director, Tribal Welfare department, welcomed the participants.  Mr V. T Kumar, former president of Neethi Vedhi,  presided over the meeting. Dr Thomas Joseph Therakam inaugurated the workshop. Neethi Vedhi family honored Mr. Siju, the author of 'Valli', a book of poems related to Adivasi life,  which is included in the  PG curriculum of the University of Calicut. A power point presentation by Ms. Flaisy Jose, Director of Neethi Vedhi, helped the participants to initiate discussion on the problems faced by the Adivasi communities. The Adivasis affected by the Mundakai disaster shared their experience related to the disaster. Then group discussions were held. Mr. C K Dinesan, Executive Director of Jvala, was the moderator in the general session.

It was decided to prepare a document suggesting action plans to address those issues faced by the Adivasis.  The document will be submitted to the Tribal Welfare Minister and the concerned departments. Mr Jyotish Kumar proposed vote of thanks. 60 persons including people's representatives, Adivasi leaders, peace committee members and core team volunteers participated in the workshop.
