A meeting with representatives from different stakeholders involved in social sectors was held on 5th October at Vellamunda panchayat hall to consider the need for forming Neethi Vedhi peace committee. The meeting began with a prayer song by Ms Santhakumary. Ms Sauda, C D S chairperson, welcomed the participants. Ms Seenath, panchayat member, presided over the meeting which was inaugurated by Ms Sudhi Radhakrishnan, the Panchayat President. Mr James Thomas explained the role and objectives of peace committees. The participants expressed their willingness to have a system beyond religious and political differences, to work for peace and conflict resolution. An executive committee with Mr. Ahammed Koduvery ( chairman ), Mr. Thomas, Mr. Vijayan (vice chairmen ), Ms P Kalyani (convenor ), Ms. Lathika, and Ms. Selma ( joint convenors ) was selected from the participants. It was decided to organize a sharing session with religious leaders. The meeting was organized by Ms Sauda and Ms Laila Usman.
